Senior Human Resources Generalist / Recruiter

  Location: Northern Virginia (Hybrid)

The Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC) is headquartered in Richmond, VA and operates a satellite location in Northern, VA. This position will be primarily assigned to our Herndon office in Northern, VA but occasional travel to Richmond may be required. Some remote work available.

  Position Overview

VIPC is looking for a seasoned Human Resources Generalist/Recruiter who will work collaboratively alongside the Chief Human Resources Officer in the daily execution of the Human Resources (HR) function and in the planning and execution of annual goals in support of our outstanding team of 45 employees.

To be considered for this position, candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business management, or other related field, plus 8-10 years of human resources experience. The individual should be well-versed in multiple areas of HR including Recruiting, OFCCP Compliance, Policy Development, Benefits Administration, Performance Management, Employee Relations. Familiarity with various applicant tracking and HRIS systems is required. We seek an individual who is a self-starter, resourceful and who enjoys working both independently and as part of a team. SHRM-CP or HRCI PHR certification highly preferred.

Vice President,
Commercialization

  Position Overview

The Vice President, Commercialization reports directly to the President and CEO of VIPC, is a member of the executive leadership team and leads VIPC’s Commercialization Division. In this role, the VP provides strategic vision for the division and manages its operations, which assist in the guidance, coordination and funding of research and technology in Virginia with commercial potential. The VP has a lead role in developing and executing strategic commercialization objectives that accelerate economic growth in Virginia and is responsible for a major funding vehicle, the Commonwealth Commercialization Fund (CCF), and is also VIPC’s primary point of contact with Virginia universities.

Successful candidates will have an advanced degree and 10-20 years of professional experience in technology-based economic development, technology commercialization advancement, private sector R&D, technology commercialization, early-stage venture capital investment, tech translation, university ecosystem hubs, public/private partnerships, etc. In addition, experience in planning and executing major funding initiatives, including large-scale grant-making and/or equity investment programs, and managing staff and budgets is required. Experience may have been gained through positions in government, the non-profit sector, the private sector and/or higher education. Knowledge of Virginia’s technology ecosystem, including academic resources, or experience in other comparable ecosystems, a plus.

Investment Associate- Life Sciences,
Venture Capital Funds

Virginia Venture Partners (VVP), the venture capital investment program of the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC), serves as both a direct and indirect allocator of early-stage capital.  VVP’s Direct Investment program places 25-30 first-time investments each year and multiple follow-on investments in high-growth potential technology (“tech”), life science and clean energy companies and has been nationally acknowledged as one of the nation’s most active early-stage investors spanning Pre-Seed (< $200K) and Seed ( >$200K) investment stages. 

  Position Overview

VVP seeks to add an Investment Associate with generalist knowledge, gained through industry experience, and spanning pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, biomedical technologies, digital health, and healthcare technology systems.

The Investment Associate will work closely with the Managing Director, VVP and senior members of the Investment Team in supporting implementation of investment policy and operations for VIPC’s $300M+ AUM investment program.  This will include sourcing, diligence, and close of new and follow-on investments in the VVP, VVP management and administration, and selected outreach and marketing activity.

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a B.S. / B.A. in general business or finance with STEM coursework preferred and 3-5 years of prior professional experience.

  Position Overview

The Senior Investment Director, Venture Capital Funds, and Pre-Seed Fund Manager will work closely with and report to the Vice President of Investments and Managing Director, Virginia Venture Partners (VVP), in implementing investment policy, strategy and operations for VIPC’s investment program. As a “Player-Manager,” this individual will lead a team of investment professionals supporting the high-volume investment mission of VVP’s pre-seed investment funds and will manage VVP pre-seed investment funds as assigned.

The Senior Investment Director & Pre-Seed Fund Manager is a leading member of the VVP Investment Team driving sourcing, diligence, close, board engagement, value growth and development for 20 of VVP Pre-Seed investments per year. The Senior Investment Director will work closely with other senior members of the VVP Team to ensure selection of Pre-Seed investments are consistent with VVP’s ecosystem outreach goals and likely to mature for follow-on investment by VVP’s downstream funds. Additionally, the Senior Investment Director serves as a key member of VIPC-internal Investment Committees making investment decisions in support of VVP investment programs and functions as a highly visible outreach representative for VIPC and Virginia Venture Partners.

A Master’s degree in Business or equivalent area of study and experience in technology is preferred, along with 10 years of progressive experience and a successful investment track record in venture capital or corporate venture capital. If granted an interview for this position, submission of a deal sheet may be required.
